This series of surreal butterfly girls started out when I found a dying butterfly in the ground one day. I took her home and tried to nurse it, but it died in the end. That got me thinking about a lot of things, and what better way to let my ideas flow than with art?
I wanted to preserve the feeling of finding the butterfly, uncertain of her destiny but clinging to life, because nothing is more precious than being alive, even if you don't know what the future has in store for you.
The painting is an original by Danita Art, measures 8" x 10" on a stretched canvas, it's ready to hang or frame if you wish.
I used an alchemy of mixed media materials like acrylic and oil paints, watercolor pencils, soft and oil pastels and graphite pencils to create this surrealist and melancholic girl.
