This painting came after darkness loomed over me, and I felt the awful dread and despair that deep depression paint into my life.
Even tough she is Frida, she is also me. After all, every artist paints itself.
This is an original watercolor painting by me, Danita. It measures 7x10 inches on watercolor paper, with delicate brushstrokes, a detailed surface and textured clouds in black and white.
I used a monochrome palette for a very dark and moody portrait that now reminds me that when darkness and despair are around me, there will be and end to it, and I will be myself again.
