Danita art dolls are the perfect gift for that special someone, specially if it's a customized art doll made as a commission to make your one of a kind paper clay sculpture even more special.
This is a very, very special doll. It's going to be a birthday present, specially ordered as a gift for a very lucky mom from the best daughter ever!
I was contacted by the daughter of the happy adoptive mom of this doll to create a commissioned piece. she wanted it to be a very, very colorful Frida art doll, with lots of details like handmade jewelry, flowers in her hair and skulls on her dress. I was more than happy to oblige!
Frida Kahlo, reinterpreted by me, Danita on a beautiful hand made art doll in paper clay and fabric wears jewelry specially designed for the doll using natural stones. It's great because it's very much the jewelry I design for you to wear!
Her dress is created with a very special dancing skull design, I picked it up in one of my travels to Mexico and also loved the scalloped accents in the borders.
Her face is totally hand sculpted by me, Danita, and then her beautiful big eyes painted using the same mixed media techniques, tricks and tips I use on my mixed media paintings. She looks just like if I took one of my paintings and brought it to the real world.
And her arms and legs are also hand made in my studio, using hand poured ceramics on vintage doll molds used in the early 20th century for real dolls and toys. I'm so lucky to get them and be able to continue with such a beautiful craft.
All in all, it's one of my favorite art dolls, and I really hope that when mom sees this doll in her birthday, she will be as delighted as I was when I created it.
