Frida has always been my inspiration to create, her unbreakable spirit and her love for art permeate my creations when her spirit guides my hands to create beautiful handmade dolls.
This doll has a very detailed face, sculpted by hand on paper clay and attached to a fabric body with one of a kind handmade clothes. Her are are incredibly expressive and a bit melancholic, painted in my sorrowful signature style. You can tell from her look that she is keeping something from the viewer, something private and very personal. Perhaps if you adopt her she will tell you her secret?
Her arms and legs are made out of hand cast resin parts I make in my studio. Each piece is unique and detailed and distressed to make each of my dolls an unrepeatable work of art.
Her dress is made by hand with a design of my own, using authentic and colorful Mexican fabrics I pick up on my travels, they are the same ones used by our ethnic groups on their colorful traditional outfits.
This soft sculpture measures about 16 inches tall, with a fabric body and articulated hands and legs so you can place her on your favorite shelf, and she will look amazing inside a standing glass case where you can display this amazing work of art, an original mixed media doll by me, Danita Art.
